We broken down the small difference for each borough below and included some of the things that makes each one unique. Brooklyn Brooklyn is the most populous of the five New York City boroughs and has more than 2.6 million residents. It also shares the same boundaries with Kings County, which is the second most densely populated county in the U.S. behind New York County. Brooklyn has garnered many "cool and hip" individuals to its many eclectic neighborhoods in recent years and it is as culturally diverse as any city. Nearly 40% of its residents are foreign born and its population speaks as many as 200 different languages. The borough also has world-class museums, neighborhood architecture and parks. Motorcycle insurance in Brooklyn is 0.43% lower than the New York City average. Manhattan Manhattan is coterminous with New York County, the second smallest, but most densely populated county in the U.S., and has an estimated 1.6 million residents. As a result, Manhattan (and New York City) is commonly called the most economically powerful and the leading financial center of the world. Real estate in Manhattan is among the most expensive in the world and largely charaterizes its many distinct and historical neighborhoods. Premiums quoted in our study of Manhattan were 0.18% lower than the city average. Queens In 1898, Queens became a borough of New York City and today it is the most-populous borough of the five with an estimated 2.3 million residents. It has diverse housing that includes high rise residential buildings and suburban single-family homes. Queens also is home to two of the world's busiest airports: JFK International and LaGuardia Airport. There are dozens of neighborhoods in the borough of Queens and residents frequently identify with the one they live in. Nearly half of everyone who lives in Queens is foreign born, making for a diverse population that speaks many different languages. Motorcycle insurance quotes in Queens were 0.41% higher than the average of the five boroughs. Staten Island Staten Island is not nearly as densely populated as the other boroughs but the north shore has urban neighborhoods. New York MTA buses have routes on Staten Island, and the borough has its own rail system, but the subway does not connect to the borough. The Staten Island Ferry that connects lower Manhattan to the island is heavily used by commuters and also a popular tourist activity. The view of Staten Island from author George R.R. Martin’s childhood home in Bayonne, NJ was the inspiration for King’s Landing in his popular book series Game of Thrones. Staten Island's sample motorcycle insurance policy premiums were only slightly cheaper than the city's average. Rates in Staten Island were 0.05% lower than the New York City average. The Bronx The northernmost borough of New York City is the Bronx. In the 1960s and 1970s, there was a sharp decline in population of the south Bronx but people have returned to the area over the last few decades.
