A couple months ago, me and my family participated in a planning session for the holiday season. We discussed our best memories of past years, the jokes the we shared with each other, gift ideas, what food to serve for this coming Christmas eve, and what special activities to participate in. I love the laughter over great memories, and the excitement for the planned holiday giving that we intend to do by mid-December.
You see, our family is planning a different gift sharing by donating what we have or what we can to less-fortunate children and elderly at which ever charitable institution that we choose. That way, we can, make our bonding more deeper and our Christmas celebration possibly more meaningful.
At the start however, we were pretty unsure of what to do. Brainstorming took more than three hours. An uncle suggested that we set a Sunday morning at the park to run but I thought that would be tediously boring since it is Christmas Activities that we are planning here. My brother recommended an out of town trip, but we soon realized that we wanted a more meaningful Christmas this time around. Finally we decided that there will be an exchange gift for the whole family including relatives but there will also be a separate gift giving donation at a local charitable institution.
I am planning to take this idea and go a notch higher by adding my old car as a car donation to another foundation that I will personally choose. I am feeling really blessed this year and that's why I wanted to give back something in return. Not only will I be able to get rid of my old but still running car, but I get to also help out others who are less fortunate and less privileged that we do.
I am really glad that we are planning to do this. I somehow feel really glad. For after all this is what Christmas is all about right?
